American Indian Paintings of the Southwest

November 9, 2002 - January 5, 2003

PWT's focus for the next two months is on paintings by well known Southwestern Native American artists. Most examples are from the 1970's and 1980's. Several of the artists are now deceased. Works by the following will be shown:

Navajo Artists: Harrison Begay, Robert Yellowhair, Beatien Yazz, Robert Chee, Tony Begay, John Secatero, Boyd Warner, Mary Morez, Chethlahe Paladin, and Robert Draper.

Hopi Artists: Neil David, Michael Kabotie, Raymond Naha, Randy Sahmie, and Aaron Yava, the late Charles Lovato of Santo Domino Pueblo; Rafael Medina (Zia Pueblo); and J.D. Roybal (San Ildefonso Pueblo).

Southwestern basketry and contemporary Navajo pottery and Folk Art are also featured. Below is a sample of some of the pieces currently on display in our gallery.
